Where My List is stored, and how to move it to another device

Short answer

My List and continue-watching live in your browser’s local storage on this device. There is no account, no server copy and no email address — which also means clearing site data deletes the list, and moving it to another device needs the export button.

Quick fix

  1. Open /my-list and use Export to copy the list as JSON.
  2. On the new device, open /my-list and import that file.
  3. Clearing “cookies and site data” for this domain deletes the list — export first.

What is stored, and where

Three keys are written to localStorage: the watchlist, the continue-watching positions, and your cookie choice. Nothing else. There is no user table, no session cookie for visitors, and no analytics identifier tied to your list.

Because the list never leaves the browser, the server cannot show it back to you on a new device and cannot recover it after you clear site data. That is the trade for not asking you to register.

Moving between devices

Export produces a small JSON file containing titles and timestamps only. Import merges it into the current list rather than replacing it, so importing twice does not duplicate entries. The same file works on the Android app, which reads the same shape.

Private windows

In a private window localStorage is wiped when the window closes, so the list will look empty on the next visit. That is the browser behaving correctly, not the site forgetting your list.

Common questions

Can you recover my list if I clear my browser?

No. The server never receives it, so there is nothing to recover. Exporting is the only backup.

Is my list used for recommendations?

Not currently. Recommendations come from TMDB for the title you are viewing, not from your history.

Does the ad consent choice use the same storage?

It is stored separately and can be changed any time from the cookie link in the footer.
