How the player sources are configured (and why yours may differ)

The short answer

Short answer

Every source is an entry in the site configuration with its own name, priority, movie URL and TV URL. Operators add, disable or reorder them in the admin panel, so two visitors on the same day can see the same list while a visitor next week sees a different one.

Quick fix

  1. Sources live in /admin → Player & sources, ordered by priority.
  2. Each source can override the global shield if it needs popups to play.
  3. Disabling the last source hides the watch button instead of showing a broken player.

What a source entry contains

A source is not a video file. It is a URL template plus metadata. The template can take the TMDB id, and optionally the IMDb id, so the same entry works for every title the source carries.

  • Name and priority — priority decides both the source order and which one is tried first.
  • Movie URL and TV URL — separate templates, because most sources use different paths for films and episodes.
  • Requires IMDb / requires TMDB — tells the player whether the template needs that identifier before it can build a link.
  • Shield override — strict, balanced or off, per source.

Why the list is not fixed

Third-party players are not stable infrastructure. A source can change domain, add a consent wall, or start returning an error page for every title. When that happens the operator disables the entry and the player stops offering it — no deploy, no code change.

This is also why guides on this site do not promise that a specific source will always exist. The honest answer is that the ordered list is configuration, and the player always shows what is currently enabled.

When everything is disabled

If no source is enabled, the watch button disappears from title pages and the page falls back to the trailer. That is intentional: a button that leads to a dead player is worse than no button, both for the visitor and for search quality.

Common questions

Does a source see my IP?

Yes. The player page is loaded by your browser from that third party, so it sees your IP the same way any website does. This site never proxies the stream.

Can I reorder sources as a visitor?

No. Order is operator configuration. Visitors choose per session by picking a different source in the list.

Why does one title have fewer sources?

A source is skipped when it requires an identifier that TMDB does not have for that title, usually a missing IMDb id.
